Hineni means, "Here I am." It was the response of all the patriarchs and prophets of Israel to the call of G-d, and signals total dedications and commitment to Jewish life.

At Hineni, Judaism is not an ancient concept. It is a living, timeless source of wisdom. The insight of the Torah, the beauty of Jewish family life, and our strong Biblical ethics have a very necessary role in today's world. Our goal is to help you infuse your life with more meaning through your Jewish heritage.

We believe that spiritual and philosophical guidance have an important place in today's complex and turbulent world. Modern life is filled with conflict and constant stress. The pressures of everyday life weigh us down, and many of us have lost the strength that faith brings. Without always knowing it, something in us seeks the lasting joy, the inner calm and tranquility of a life linked to traditions and biblical values.

In 1973, Hineni International was founded by Esther Jungreis. Her long time associate, Barbara Janov, has served as Executive Director since its inception. In 1982, the Hineni Heritage Center opened its doors at 232 West End Avenue in New York City. Today, the Center, the first of its kind in the world, offers a comprehensive series of programs, including Torah, Talmud, Kabalah, Prophets, History, Rituals and Ceremonies in the home and synagogue, Hebrew language and Prayer, and one-on-one tutoring. Hineni also offers lectures, publications, audio and video cassettes, family counseling, an introduction service for singles and social gatherings. There is a constant flow of visitors through its welcoming doors, who leave fortified with a knowledge of their roots, and with the desire to learn more. Six years ago, Hineni opened The Jill & Bill Roberts Hineni Center in Jerusalem at 2 Frumkin Street. Tel:(02) 624-3407, FAX: (02) 624-0308

In addition to offering a full complement of services for young people, the Hineni branch, under the leadership of Benjamin Phillip, has a soup kitchen for homeless youth and offers vocational training and counseling.

We welcome you to visit us at our Hineni Heritage Centers...to expand and enhance your understanding of Judaism...to participate...and to connect to the timeless wisdom of our people.
